LOVE AND MARRIAGE

CONNECT WITH YOUR MATE

The man you love..

       Interests may differ

Because the man you love belongs to the male species, his interests lie in current events, sports and related trivia, car talk, and outdoor leisure activities like his golf game and fishing adventures.  In order for you to have lively and intelligent conversations with him, you need to be up to speed on topics of interest to him.

Save ‘girl talk’ for your girlfriends!

Don’t try to engage your man in idle chatter or ‘girl talk’ because he will quickly turn a deaf ear and retreat to the TV room first chance he gets.  When you need to ‘bend an ear’, call a girlfriend instead.

Do you want to be more interesting?

If you want to become a savvy, more interesting conversationalist, you need to watch the daily news, read newspapers, books and magazines that feature topics of interest to you so that you can share your new-found knowledge with the man you love.

MAKING YOUR MARRIAGE WORK!

  Love and Marriage

Making your marriage work is a life-long process because various challenges present themselves throughout the years requiring you to adapt to new situations and alternate ways of thinking.

Your wedding day is but a distant memory and the honeymoon stage is somewhat waning.  What you’re left with now is simply ‘love and marriage’!

Here are some ideas on how to endear yourself to the one you love to help make your marriage work:

10  ways to help keep love alive in marriage!

  1. Be playful and flirtatious with your mate to let him know that you still find him attractive, sexy and desirable.
  2. Every so often on his day off, pamper him with a soothing massage, then hand him the remote to watch TV undisturbed for the rest of the day.
  3. Set aside some time for both of you to do something together that you know he’ll love (book a fishing or golf weekend, etc.).
  4. At the dinner table, ask him about his day, then discuss topics that are of interest to him.
  5. Be generous with your praise.  Let him know that you admire all that he is and how much you appreciate all that he does for you.
  6. When you’re out shopping, buy him a little something to show that you’re thinking of him even if it’s only a magazine, or his favorite nut-filled chocolate bar.
  7. Thank him each time he does something thoughtful for you, then smile and say ‘I love you too’!
  8. Cater to his palette.  Ask him what he feels like eating, then prepare it, or hand him your cookbook that features his favorite types of food and have him choose a new recipe for you to try.
  9. At home, keep your fridge and pantry stocked with goodies and ready-to-eat snacks and drinks for those evenings in front of the TV.
  10. Surprise him occasionally by doing something he would ordinarily do himself.  He’ll appreciate having one less thing to think about.

Learn to look ‘the other way’!

For peace and harmony in marriage, refrain from over-reacting to trivial matters.  Learn to look ‘the other way’ when things are not important.  Remember, too, that no matter what twists and turns life dishes out, you’ll get through them one day at a time, just as you’ve done many, many times before!

ROMANCE IN MARRIAGE

ROMANCE… IS IT MISSING IN YOUR MARRIAGE?

          Romance in Marriage

The man you chose to spend your life with is everything you ever wanted in a mate, except for one thing…you wish he were more romantic!  You yearn for what you think is missing in your marriage, but is it really missing?

Loving ways speak for themselves!

The one you love might very well be romantic in his own way above and beyond the standard definition of romance.  You may not hear him say ‘I love you’ as often as you’d like, but you know that you mean the world to him because his loving ways speak for him.

Things he does to show his love for you!

He runs out to the store at half-time during championship playoffs to buy you those goodies you’ve been craving all day.

In summer, he washes and waxes your car then tops up your gas tank. In winter, he clears the ice and snow off your car, then warms up your engine in case you want to go shopping.

When he’s the first one up in the morning, he makes the coffee and keeps it warming on the burner until you get up.  He then pours you a cup, prepares it just the way you like it and brings it to you in whatever room you’re in.

He’s playful and flirtatious with you because he finds you beautiful, sexy and desirable.

He remembers to thank you for the tasty meals you prepare and set on the table for him to enjoy.

Loving ways are romantic!

Your sweetheart may not say ‘I love you’ with store-bought items, but he generously gives you his heart each and every day to make you feel happy, secure and content.  So, as you can see, romance is not missing in your marriage…it has simply been redefined by the one who loves you, who thinks the world of you and, in his own way, makes every day seem like Valentine’s Day!

LIFE LESSON:  FLOWERS AND CHOCOLATES ARE WONDERFUL EXPRESSIONS  OF LOVE, BUT FLOWERS EVENTUALLY WILT AND CHOCOLATES GET EATEN, BUT LOVING WAYS WILL NESTLE IN
YOUR HEART FOREVER!
